Blacksburg Ballet

The Blacksburg Ballet is a non-profit dance company founded in the early 2000s with the goal of bringing quality dance education and performances to the NRV. We perform locally at athletics and community events, produce The Nutcracker ballet, and have recently been able to offer our FREE field trip to over 2,000 children and seniors. We bring experienced and inexperienced performers together to share the magic that happens on stage, and are proud to be a holiday tradition for local families!
 
 
Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry

The Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry (BIFP) was founded on October 15, 1987, to serve families in the greater Blacksburg and McCoy areas. The BIFP is a joint ministry of over twenty-five faith-based communities in Blacksburg. We are also supported by individuals, organizations, and clubs. We are run entirely by volunteers. There are no paid staff members. All client needs are met through cash and food donations.
 
Blacksburg Refugee Partnership

Blacksburg Refugee Partnership (BRP), founded in 2016, supports refugee resettlement in Blacksburg, welcoming 19 families from countries like Syria and Afghanistan. BRP offers assistance with housing, education, employment, healthcare, financial literacy, and cultural orientation. Its goal is to empower refugees to achieve long-term independence while enriching the local community. Volunteers, vital to its mission, undergo training and background checks. Funding comes from grants and donations.
 
Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad

The Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad provides pre-hospital emergency medical care to the Town of Blacksburg and portions of Montgomery County, VA. They also provide technical rescue services including wilderness search and rescue, cave rescue, and water rescue to the region, Virginia, and neighboring states. Their team of over 165 dedicated volunteers meet or exceed the training standards of paid departments and donates over 80,000 man-hours of service to their community each year.
 
Calfee Community & Cultural Center

The Calfee Community and Cultural Center Board of Directors, a majority of whom either attended the Jim Crow era African American school or are their family members, is reviving the legacy of the institution in order to meet Pulaski County's needs to today and build a stronger future tomorrow, through a childcare center, a shared use commercial kitchen, a digital learning lab, an event hall and a museum and archive about local African American history.

The Montgomery Co-Blacksburg Club focuses on serving the children of Montgomery Co through food programs with EMES, literacy programs with PFES, weekly food delivery through Micah’s Backpack, bed building with SIHP, and ongoing support of youth programming. Literacy NRV

Our mission is to foster, support, advocate for, and instruct adults in the New River Valley of Virginia who seek opportunities to achieve greater independence through literacy. Services are provided to help adults improve basic skills to achieve personal, employment, and civic goals. We provide instruction in reading, math, and GED preparation; English for Speakers of Other Languages and US Citizenship test preparation; digital literacy; financial literacy; family literacy; and health literacy.
 
Live, Work, Eat, Grow

Live, Work, Eat, Grow is a New River Valley non-profit managing the shared-use Millstone Kitchen and a robust community garden program. Our mission is to cultivate vibrant communities by fostering local food, farms and gardens, growing small businesses, and gathering friends and neighbors.
 
Micah's Backpack

Backpack program that feeds underprivileged kids in preschool through 12th grade. We deliver bags of food to the public schools, who then distribute those bags to the kids who need them. We feed approximately 250-300 kids weekly in Blacksburg.

MCFACC is dedicated to improving & saving the lives of the homeless animals in Montgomery County, Virginia. MCFACC provides financial support Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center and other local animal welfare programs. Through the dedicated volunteers, community education & outreach this can happen.
We envision a community where every adoptable companion animal has a permanent & loving home, and pet owners responsibly spay or neuter their animals to end pet overpopulation.

New River Community Action, To Our House Program (NRCA, TOH)

A program of NRCA, TOH is a low-barrier shelter, screening for behavior only, providing 14 beds to homeless individual adults and all-adult households (guests) during the winter months (November-March). TOH partners with faith-based and community organizations to provide shelter, food, and compassionate support.
 
New River Family Shelter (NRFS)

NRFS educates anyone experiencing a housing crisis on tenant/landlord rights and responsibilities and refers to needed services. Homeless families with children in the NRV are eligible for NRFS case management services and, those not in imminent danger of domestic violence, for emergency shelter as space is available. The agency has the capacity to house five families consecutively and, while being sheltered, are assisted with addressing housing barriers in order to locate permanent housing.
 
New River Valley-Radford Project Linus

Our local NRV chapter of Project Linus has been functioning since June 2000 and has made and donated over 49,000 blankets to children age 0-18 who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Our blankets are given to hospitals, shelters, Social Services, and community service agencies, and also police, fire, and rescue agencies. All blankets and quilts are homemade by hand with love. They are quilts, fleece, knit, or crochet. All stay in the NRV unless there is national call for help.
 
Northside Presbyterian Church -- Monday Night Suppers

The Monday Night Supper program is a mission of Northside Presbyterian Church to provide free meals to anyone who comes to the church every Monday between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Each meal consists of a main entre, a side or two, a fruit cup, and cookies. The main dish has been soup, pasta, chili, roast beef sandwiches, grilled hamburger or hot dogs, or a sub. The mission started in 2018 and has grown every year. We currently serve between 50 and 100 meals each Monday.
 
NRV CARES

NRV CARES is dedicated to protecting children and strengthening families. Serving the New River Valley, NRV CARES provides Community Education, Parent Education, and CASA of the New River Valley. Programs build resiliency in the community, families, and individuals; provide vital parenting knowledge and skills; and ensure all children have a safe home to life in and thrive. Please help us to ensure all children live a healthy and happy childhood!
 
Nueva Esperanza - New Hope Girls

Nueva Esperanza - New Hope Girls Inc. ("New Hope Girls") rescues girls and empowers women in the Dominican Republic (DR). They are on the front lines of the fight against human trafficking of both young girls (ages 2-20) and adult women. They have multiple safe homes in the DR and also a job creation program to equip vulnerable moms. Their work impacts women and girls on all sides of the ocean. With a strong network of support in Blacksburg, VA, they know many are in this fight with them.
 
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia provides an environment of love, community, and hope to families of seriously ill children. RMHC-SWVA programs give a family with a sick child what they need most – each other.
The Ronald McDonald house is a comfortable and supportive home-away-from-home for the families of sick and injured children who must come to the Roanoke area for medical treatment.
 
Seek Education, Explore, DiScover - SEEDS

Founded in 1995, SEEDS inspires kids’ love for learning and has been growing future leaders through outdoor nature education, discovery learning, and civic awareness. SEEDS runs the SEEDS-Blacksburg Nature Center for the Town of Blacksburg VA.
 
Special Olympics Virginia, Area 9

Special Olympics (SO) Area 9 serves the NRV with free year-round opportunities in sports and healthy living. Our athletes and partners/volunteers bring joy and respect to the Area. We have 12 sports and compete locally, in State, USA and International Games! We have gold, silver, and bronze medalists. This fall, we will send athletes and unified teams to States for bocce, volleyball, and bowling. We want to expand to our youngest members and reach athletes in our local schools. Thank you.

The Hokie Way supports the active engagement of Virginia Tech student-athletes in leveraging their Name, Image and Likeness to amplify the mission of charitable organizations as a way to give back to the community and encourage a new generation of Hokie athletes.
Born in the spirit of Ut Prosim, The Hokie Way creates opportunities for VT student-athletes to promote charitable organizations through strategic content on social media/television, event appearances, mentorship, service work, etc.

Vittles for Vets LLC

Vittles for Vets is dedicated to offering a hand-up to impoverished veterans suffering from food insecurity through our supplemental grocery gift card program. Qualifying veterans receive a biweekly gift card to a grocery store of choice for the purchase of nutritious food and personal care items. The annual cost of lending a hand-up per enrolled veteran is $2,600-$5,200, depending on family size. We currently serve 100 veterans and dependents across Southwest Virginia and beyond.

Belview’s Helping Hands Pantry

We started the pantry 2 years ago after helping a family with Christmas, realizing there was such a need for cleaning supplies and personal care items. The clothing and household items are donated by the community, we sort and put everything in order like a store. We also pack boxes of personal care and cleaning supplies, diapers and wipes. We are open once a month and are now seeing between 70-80 families. The pantry has been a blessing to all the volunteers as well as everyone who attends.

Ride-A-Rescue

Our unique equine rescue, Ride-A-Rescue, takes in, cares for, and rehabilitates abused, neglected, and surrendered horses. Care for our horses includes feed, supplementation, shelter, training, farrier services, medical care, adoption services, and providing a sense of purpose and jobs for the horses. We are a 501(3)c non-profit organization, operating solely on volunteers, donations, and the proceeds from the services we provide to our community.

Nonprofit community organization with a mission to preserve and enhance sustainable living in Blacksburg and environs by promoting clean energy, smart growth and mobility, ecological integrity, social equity, local food systems, and reduction of waste, carbon emissions, and pollution. We serve as an information clearinghouse and collaborate with the town, university, other community organizations, and businesses to create and cross-promote sustainability policies, programs, and projects.
 
Montgomery County Christmas Store

The Montgomery County Christmas Store (MCCS) is a non-denominational, all-volunteer, community-wide, non-profit organization that assists eligible low-income individuals and families in Montgomery County during the Christmas Season by providing a shopping experience characterized by choice and dignity.
All applicants are pre-screened and must meet income and other criteria. Qualified shoppers make a shopping appointment to select new clothing, household items, toys, and food at no cost.
 
Beans and Rice, Inc.

Beans and Rice works to improve the lives of lower to middle-income individuals and families. We do this by working in three areas: food security, family stability, and youth development. We provide such programs as weekly food distribution & healthy kids snack bags, a seasonal mobile food market selling fresh produce at low-cost, assistance for low-income individuals to start a business, micro credits and loans for start-ups, and youth enrichment programming and internships.
 
Montgomery County Educational Foundation

The Montgomery Co. Educational Foundation is a public foundation committed to supporting the public schools in Montgomery County, VA. We believe that the people who know what our schools need are the ones who are in the system, and we provide grants to teachers, students, staff, and school organizations based on a grant proposal review process. Examples of potential funding areas include extra materials for teachers, after-school programs for students, and teacher development programs.
 
New River Valley Youth Cycling Alliance

NRVYCA is a non-profit organization focused on developing and supporting the youth cycling community in the beautiful New River Valley. We host and coordinate year-round activities that include youth bike racing, group rides, skills sessions, bike safety, trail and public lands stewardship, and physical fitness in a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment.
 
The Salvation Army of New River Valley

The Salvation Army is an international organization whose mission is meeting human needs in His name without discrimination and is one of the largest providers of social services nationally, as well as internationally. Locally, we serve the counties of Montgomery, Pulaski, Giles, Floyd, and the City of Radford by providing financial assistance with rent, utilities, and food. In addition, we provide emergency housing assistance and serve hundreds with our holiday assistance.
 
New River Community Action Home to Stay Initiative

To create a ministry called Home To Stay, under the supervision of NRCA. This ministry would assist & enable people who live in the New River Valley as “working poor” and/or below the poverty level to stay in their home if they were having financial troubles doing so. Our goal is to help those that do not qualify for other government resources. For example, helping them pay a late utility or rent bill, as a last resort for people in need.
 
The June Bug Center for Arts & Education

The June Bug Center for Arts and Education (JBC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing music, performing arts, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) through ongoing after school programs, classes, and community theatre productions that are affordable to the community.
 
 
MCEAP Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program

MCEAP has been serving the community since 1975 as a 100% volunteer-run organization in order to meet the immediate, emergency, and temporary needs of low-income, unemployed, elderly, and handicapped individuals or families. MCEAP helps where existing agencies cannot by supporting the maintaining of their households and the restoring of self sufficiency.
